Fremont, Calif., firefighters battled a blaze that broke out Monday afternoon at the Tesla factory.
The two-alarm fire was quickly put under control, the Fremont Fire Department said on X, and no one was injured.
“The fire started inside an oven. The fire has been knocked down. There are no reports of injuries. All employees have been accounted for per Tesla representatives at the scene,” the department tweeted.
The Fremont plant is one that Tesla CEO Elon Musk fought to reopen during the pandemic lockdown in 2020. More recently, it was hit by layoffs, among 14,000 job cuts announced worldwide last month. Since the April announcement, the count has risen, and layoffs are underway for nearly 4,000 in California alone, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The fire was called in just before 5 p.m. local time, department spokesperson Aisha Knowles told The Mercury News. It was under control by 6:15, KTVU-TV reported.
Social media commentators posted photos showing smoke rising from the factory.
